Yes. Your Gidgee sunglasses are made out of TR-90 which is a Nylon fabric which gives the frame flexibility and makes it impact resistant.

Gidgee lenses have been selected and tested by Australian competitive horse riders under harsh conditions. The colour of the lens and the level of light transmittal in your lens combination has been identified as the optimum for all horse sport environments. Tapered polycarbonate lenses provide you with enhanced optical clarity. Polycarbonate lenses are extremely lightweight while maintaining superior impact resistance.

Impact resistant sunglasses are definitely necessary. Gidgee sunglasses lenses and frames are made of special materials that are unlikely to shatter if struck and can give you the benefits of both sunglasses and protective eyewear. This is important to protect and maximize your performance in both competitive and everyday conditions.

To change your Gidgee lens always hold the frames with the lenses facing upwards, the temple arms down and the top of the frame towards you.

  • Place index finger into Nose Bridge and place thumb, of the same hand, onto the other side of the nose bridge on the top of the frame, grip the side of the lens to be removed with your other hand.
  • Place outside fingers on the temple arms and gently flex the frame at the nose bridge by pushing with your index finger towards you while pressing the top of the frame away with both thumbs.
  • With the opposite hand, carefully pull lens out of the nose bridge groove first and allow lens to slide out in your hand.
  • Lens installations instructions:
  • Always insert the temple arm side of the lens first and slide the nose bridge side in afterward.
  • Slide temple lens tab into frame.
  • Align inner lens with groove of frame and slide lens gently up.
  • Hold lens firmly and slide the lens with the thumb of the opposite hand along the top of the frame until the nose bridge lens tab snaps firmly into place.

Specifically, the grey lens is the most common type of lens colour. Transmits all colors evenly without changing value of color. Light enough not to impair vision, yet dark enough to provide overall protection from glare. Excellent for bright sunny days. Grey tint is best for bright light situations like outdoor sports because it blocks out the brightest of the suns rays.

Brown, warmer lenses are especially good at blocking the blue light commonly found in diffused light such as one might experience on a cloudy day. Brown can improve both contrast and depth perception, reduce glare and is a good all-around choice if you live in an area with changeable weather patterns. Brown is also best for lower light situations, like riding in the late afternoon or early morning. Brownish tint lens helps highlight the different contrasts in green colors and enhance visual acuity on the golf course.

Yes! Most people believe that the darkness of the lens is what protects their eyes. The degree of darkness has no effect on UV rays. For adequate protection, your Gidgee sunglasses indicate they block 100 percent of the sun’s UV rays.

All Gidgee quality lenses comply with Australian standard AS/NZS 1067:2003 and provide 100% UVB, UVA and UVC protection. We also provide a Polarised option to our lenses which dramatically reduces glare through directional filtering. You will notice the difference in all sport environments in conditions where you can find glare on any surface from sand arenas to outback dust.

Yes there are replacement polarised lenses for most styles available.

To help maintain the high definition clarity of your lens, your new Gidgee eyewear comes with a specially-woven micro-fibre pouch for cleaning and storage. Using it will preserve the superior optical quality of your lens. Regular hand washing and air drying of the bag is recommended.
